Buffalo Airways can resume commercial air operations after receiving the all-clear from Transport Canada.
The federal agency, in a short statement on Tuesday afternoon, said it had reinstated Buffalo’s air operator certificate after approving the company’s “corrective action plans”.
The Hay River-based airline had been suspended since the end of November over a number of concerns surrounding safety and documentation.

“The reinstatement is effective immediately,” read Transport Canada’s statement.
“Buffalo Airways’ corrective action addresses Transport Canada’s concerns regarding the company’s safety record and its ability to keep its operations consistently compliant with aviation safety regulations.
“Transport Canada will closely monitor Buffalo Airways to verify that its corrective action is implemented and sustained.”
In late December, Buffalo said the suspension had already cost it a million dollars.

Sol Taboada, an independent expert who worked with Buffalo to help the airline regain Transport Canada’s approval, more than once suggested the federal agency was exercising a ‘personal’ dispute with Buffalo’s Joe McBryan. McBryan has agreed to step away from day-to-day management of the airline but remains as a pilot.
Buffalo’s Bruce Jonasson told the Hay River Hub cargo flights will resume first, followed by scheduled passenger service between Hay River and Yellowknife in the coming days.
