Two arrested after attempted robbery at Liquor Shop

Two males are in custody following an attempted robbery at Yellowknife’s Liquor Shop in the Stanton Plaza Thursday night.

RCMP say they arrived around 9:00pm to find a “victim” who reported the attempted robbery. It’s not yet clear how the person who reported the incident may have been involved.

Two suspects had fled the scene before police dog services were called in to help with the search.

The dogs successfully tracked down one suspect, who was taken into custody “near a popular restaurant on Old Airport Road,” according to an RCMP press release. The second suspect was later found and taken into custody.

Many posted on social media Thursday night believing the arrests were related to the search for Denecho King, but this was a separate incident.

The names of the suspects cannot be released at this time as an investigation continues.
