As their investigation continues, the Mounties are asking residents to be wary of anything they see online pertaining to the apprehension of King.

Police are also asking the public to refrain from posting any police activity on social media so that their investigation isn’t compromised.

“The RCMP will advise when King has been apprehended,” read an RCMP statement issued Friday.

“We have a media team available to put out a press release as soon as it has been confirmed King is in custody.”

Yellowknife detachment spokesperson Marie York-Condon added: “We understand the public’s need for information on the status of Denecho King being unlawfully at large.
