Charges laid after two pizza robberies in Yellowknife

Charges have been laid after two robberies on Friday at Somba K’e Civic Plaza and a downtown pizza restaurant, according to Yellowknife RCMP.

The first incident occurred on Friday around 11:00 pm when a taxi driver was delivering pizza to the park.  When the driver arrived, a male and female took the food without paying.

Police say a “slight” altercation ensued with the taxi driver receiving minor injuries to their face. The driver then called police.

“RCMP quickly set up a perimeter near the Frame Lake trail area,” said a press release from the RCMP.

The male suspect then reportedly entered a downtown restaurant soon after, stole pizza and attempted to flee before being arrested by police.

Kelly Canadian, 24, has been charged with one count of robbery and theft.

The female suspect, roughly 25-years-old, remains at large. She was last seen Friday evening wearing a grey long sleeved sweater.

If you have any information about either incident, call the Yellowknife RCMP at 867-669-1111 or contact Crimestoppers online at www.nwtnutips.com.
