Someone in Yellowknife may have just won $250,000

A lottery ticket bought in Yellowknife has just won someone $250,000.

Saturday’s Extra prize, drawn alongside the Lotto 6/49 jackpot numbers, was won by a ticket purchased in Yellowknife, according to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the holder of the winning ticket lives in Yellowknife, but the ticket was bought in the city.

Winners of major prizes are obliged under the contest’s terms and conditions to have their name and photograph publicized, otherwise the corporation says it may withhold the prize. If you need more information about claiming a prize, click here.

The corporation says the odds of winning the Extra prize – which involves matching a seven-digit number – are one in six million.

Since 1980, the corporation says its games have seen 11 winners of $1 million or more in the territory.

If you need assistance or advice to overcome a gambling problem, there is help available in the NWT.
