One car stolen, another set on fire in Hay River Saturday night

RCMP in Hay River located a stolen vehicle in a residential driveway Saturday after another car belonging to the homeowner was set on fire.

Fire spread from the owner’s vehicle to the home. The owner was evacuated and suffered no injuries. The Hay River Fire Department extinguished the car and saved the home.

The arson, along with the theft of the other vehicle are believed to be connected. This is the second similar incident in Hay River in eight days.

The two incidents have not yet been definitively linked, but police are investigating the possibility that they are.
