Ditch the car for Walk to Work Week in Yellowknife

Think twice about your commute to work this week.

The city of Yellowknife and Ecology North will be hosting Walk to Work Week from today until Friday.

Residents are encouraged to walk to their workplace in lieu of other transportation methods.

The city will be giving away complimentary passes to recreation facilities and providing hot drink stations for those taking part.

“Walk to Work Week is a great way to start a habit that will improve fitness levels, save money and provide the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful city,” said Mayor Mark Heyck.

“At the same time, a walk to work routine reduces our environmental footprint.”

Temperatures are expected to drop as low as -38˚C by the end of the week.
