Hunter reported missing north of Yellowknife found dead

Police say a hunter who was reported missing north of Yellowknife earlier this week has been found dead. 

46-year-old Antoine Betsidea of Behchoko was hunting on the Tibbitt to Contowoyto winter road, approximately 350 kilometres north of Yellowknife, when he became separated from his group.

He was last seen around 3:00 p.m. Sunday on a snowmobile.

Police say Betsidea was found deceased Wednesday morning and that an investigation into his death has been turned over to the chief coroner’s office.

A number of agencies were involved in the search and rescue operation, including civilian search groups, members of the Canadian Armed Forces and volunteers.
