Earth Day is this Saturday, and it’s a good time to think about reducing your carbon footprint.

Experts say a good way to do this is by ditching the car for a more eco-friendly mode of transportation, and the City of Yellowknife is making that a whole lot easier.

All day Saturday, public transit will be free throughout Yellowknife according to the city’s website.

This comes in the middle of Earth Week, put on by Ecology North to celebrate our planet and discuss ways to protect it with events until April 26.

Residents could use the free rides to check out their Saturday’s events, from a pre-loved clothing swap to a coffee house and auction.

You can find a full list of events taking place during Earth Week on Ecology North’s website.
