Stabbing in Downtown Yellowknife

A man is set to appear in court this afternoon following a stabbing in Downtown Yellowknife.

The stabbing took place on Franklin Avenue at approximately 10:00 pm last night. The suspect fled on foot.

Yellowknife RCMP were able to track the man down using NT RCMP Police Dog Services.

The victim was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital and later transported by medivac to Edmonton for treatment.

The investigation is on-going.

Security guards facing charges after elderly man injured in YK

Yellowknife police report that two security guards are facing charges following an alleged assault of an elderly man. Officers say the man sustained injuries and was treated in hospital. The names of the suspects have not been made public as the changes have yet to be sworn in court, said RCMP.
