Delta flight makes unplanned stop in Yellowknife

Passengers of a Delta flight got an unexpected stop in Yellowknife today. The flight heading from Amsterdam to Seattle made the unscheduled landing after a medical emergency inside the aircraft.

The Boeing 767 diverted to Yellowknife Airport and has landed.

Delta Airlines has confirmed that Delta flight 145 diverted due to a medical issue.

A female passenger was in medical distress and needed emergency care. She was transported to Stanton Territorial Hospital and is currently in stable condition. All other passengers were safe and the flight resumed its itinerary around 2:30 p.m.

The Canadian Border Services Agency, the Yellowknife Airport Fire Department and the Emergency Medical Response attended the site along with Yellowknife RCMP.

While officials with the department say the reduced hours are currently temporary, they added it may become permanent.
