New principals for two Yellowknife schools

The YK1 school district has announced more staffing changes in Yellowknife.

Following the appointment of Dean MacInnis as the new principal at Sir John Franklin High School, two more YK1 schools are seeing changes at the top.

Rachell Simmons will take over as principal of École JH Sissons School for the next school year.

Simmons, who has also taught at Sir John Franklin and William McDonald schools, replaces Paul Bennett, who moves across to Sir John. Bennett takes the vice-principal’s role vacated by MacInnis.

Meanwhile, Katey Simmons will be the new principal of Mildred Hall School.

Simmons, in her 16th year at Mildred Hall, has been the school’s program support teacher since 2011. She takes charge in the fall.
