Police have named two suspects arrested over the theft of rifles from Yellowknife’s Canadian Tire.
Todd Vatcher, 23, and 28-year-old Beau Desire-Tesar both face charges relating to theft and unauthorized possession of a firearm. Both are Yellowknife residents.
Vatcher and Desire-Tesar will appear in court on Friday. They were taken into custody on Tuesday evening at separate locations: one during a traffic stop on Taylor Road, the other at a parking lot on Range Lake Road.
RCMP say their investigation is continuing.
Two rifles were stolen from a locked display inside the city’s Canadian Tire store on the evening of Monday, May 25. They still haven’t been found, despite these arrests.
The stolen rifles are a Rossi Ranch Hand and a Chiappa Survival series.
