Firefighters tackle car fire on Yellowknife’s Otto Drive

Firefighters have brought a car fire under control on Yellowknife’s Otto Drive.

Latham Island residents were woken by sirens in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with municipal enforcement officers temporarily closing off the area at the causeway.

A number of fire trucks attended the scene.

It’s not believed anyone was hurt, though one property did suffer some fire damage as a result.

Police in Hay River say that an Indigenous man is missing from the community and are asking the public for assistance to locate him.

The GNWT is reducing office hours including at the department of Education, Culture and Employment in the North Slave Regional and Community Service Centres in Yellowknife and BehchokÇ«̀€. While officials with the department say the reduced hours are currently temporary, they added it may become permanent.
