A man is dead and a woman seriously injured after an incident on Yellowknife’s Lanky Court in the early hours of Monday.
A male suspect subsequently turned himself in to RCMP. He has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Charges are pending.
Police say residents heard a disturbance on Lanky Court shortly before 1am on Monday morning. On arrival, RCMP found a man and woman – both critically injured – at an apartment.
The man was pronounced dead at Stanton Territorial Hospital, while the woman was taken by medevac to Alberta for further treatment, where her present condition is not known.
While neither the victims nor the suspect have been publicly identified by police, the dead man has been identified locally as Elvis Lafferty.
The victims’ families have been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
