Folk on the Rocks fundraiser held this weekend

Yellowknife, NWT – A fundraiser for Yellowknife’s Folk on the Rocks is set to go Saturday night.

David Whitelock is the festival’s new executive director.

He talks about what people can expect from this year’s Spring Thaw.

“Previously known as the Spring Fling, is the Folks on the Rocks annual fundraiser. We have the magnificent Trade Offs and the All Time Mondays playing this Saturday at the Explorer Hotel. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Whitelock talks about the significance of Saturday night.

“I think it helps set the tone for the year ahead. We announce a handful of the confirmed artists this weekend so that’s hugely exciting and then people start to buzz and get focused on what’s happening over the next few months as we start to prepare for the festival.”

Whitelock encourages anyone interested to check out the Folk on the Rocks website and Facebook page.

Tickets can either be purchased online, at Erasmus Apparel or at Fiddles and Stix for $35.

The event gets underway at 8pm at the Explorer Hotel.
