The Chateau Nova hotel is set to open this month in Yellowknife, with the development offering several new amenities in town.

The hotel will feature a local restaurant, known as the Quarry Restaurant and Lounge, which is expected to offer a steakhouse menu.

The facility has 141 rooms and suites, with the entrance road to branch off Highway 4, just next door to The Explorer.

“The hotel has a modern but comfortable feel,” said Milica Mrdjenovich, the company’s vice-president of brand and marketing. “The lobby has a large feature fireplace with high ceilings and chandeliers.”

To achieve a local vibe, the hotel features archival photos throughout to reflect some of Yellowknife’s history.

As for amenities, Nova says the hotel will include a fitness centre, steam room, sauna, business centre, guest laundry and a banquet facility that can hold up to 400 people.

Before the public gets to see it all, crews are doing a deep clean of the building and training staff before the official opening.

As for prices? The hotel wouldn’t provide us with rates, but they say they’re hoping to offer a better price than its nearby competitors.

This isn’t the first hotel venture in Yellowknife for Nova, after the chain opened their first facility in town in 2000.

“Yellowknife is a big part of the history of Nova Hotels and we look forward to the future with the opening of the Chateau Nova Yellowknife,” said Mrdjenovich.
