A possible human skull has been found near Dettah amoung unidentified remains, according to Yellowknife RCMP.

The discovery was made over the weekend, prompting a forensic examination to be ordered by the RCMP and coroner’s office.

“We understand there is speculation to the discovery of the unidentified remains,” said Marie York-Condon, spokesperson with the RCMP. “Until the forensic results are received, we cannot link these discoveries to each other, or to any file or investigation.”

Some of the speculation on Tuesday involved another news outlet reporting that the skull could belong to missing 21-year-old Mark Lynn, who was last seen on August 24.

Lynn was reported missing on Sunday, August 28. Police say he was travelling on foot, and may have been in the “Lagoon” area of Dettah.
