All five of Yellowknife’s outdoor ice rinks are now open

All five of Yellowknife’s outdoor skating rinks have opened to the public.

The city maintains outdoor rinks at Jeske Crescent Park, School Draw Park, Forrest Drive Park, the Tommy Forrest ball field and on Frame Lake near City Hall every year.

The rink near City Hall also features a skating oval and a service building that opens whenever temperatures are above -25 C with wind chill.

Four of the city’s rinks have been open for some time now. A city official confirmed Friday that the one on Frame Lake had also opened for the season.

Rinks are typically serviced until mid-April depending on ice conditions.
