68-carat diamond recovered at Gahcho Kué mine largest yet

One of the owners of the Gahcho Kué diamond mine says a 68-carat diamond was recovered at the mine during production ramp-up.

Mountain Province Diamonds made the announcement Monday.

The company, which owns 49 per cent of the mine, says the gem is the largest to be recovered at the site so far.

“The recovery of a 67.87 carat gem quality diamond during production ramp-up is very encouraging,” said Patrick Evans, president and CEO of Mountain Province Diamonds.

Evans says production ramp-up at Gahcho Kué is progressing well and that the mine is on track to achieve commercial production this quarter.
