The Prime Minister will sort of be in Yellowknife this weekend

Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be in Yellowknife this weekend.

But there’s a catch: he’ll only stand three and a half feet tall and have another man’s hand inside him.

Puppeteer James Gordon will be in town to perform “Stephen Harper: The Musical” on Saturday at the Northern United Place.

The one-man show (or two if you include the puppet of Harper) gets underway at 7:30pm.

The production combines political commentary, original songs and projected images to highlight Canada’s current political climate and Harper’s time in office.

“Gordon’s puppeteering and humourous lyrics mock everything from the Senate scandal and the Tories’ non-debated omnibus bills, to public service cuts, unemployment, climate change, our overpriced fighter jets, Canada’s economic decline, and Harper’s sketchy deals with China,” reads a press release for the event.

Gordon, who hails from Ontario, has run for the Ontario legislature as an NDP candidate twice but lost on both occasions.

But the entertainer is perhaps best known for his work as a singer-songwriter with 40 albums to his name over a 30-year international career.

If you agree with Gordon’s view of Canada and its leader, you can get tickets for the musical at Northern Images for $20.
