Three Hay River residents charged with drug-related offenses

Yellowknife, NWT – A Hay River woman, charged with drug offences, is reportedly the same woman who was renting a house near the fatal shooting of an RCMP officer in Hay River back in 2007.

49-year-old Rachel Martel is facing drug charges after police raided a home in Hay River last Thursday and recovered three grams of crack cocaine as well as small amounts of marijuana and hashish, paraphernalia, cash and two long-barrel firearms.

She was reportedly renting the same home seven years ago when a man left the residence before fatally shooting Constable Christopher Worden.

21-year-old Angel Martel and 30-year-old Travis Guild are also charged with drug offences and have been released for court July 21st.

Guild is further charged with resisting arrest and careless storage of a firearm.
