Multiple bear sightings in Kam Lake

CJCD received a call this morning reporting a black bear sighting at the Kam Lake bypass near the RTL building.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources received a call yesterday reporting a similar sighting in the same area. According to ENR’s Dawn Curtis, yesterday’s bear had, “crossed from the east to west side of the road near the SPCA/Fiddlers lagoon area.

An ENR officer responded to the call. They drove around the RTL yard and in the area where construction is going on, however did not see the bear.

Curtis suggested that the bear at Kam Lake could be the same bear seen at the airport a few weeks ago.

If you spot a bear, do not approach. Report the bear by calling ENR at 1-867-767-9055 ext. 53001, or you can call the 24-hour emergency wildlife numbers.
