Gahcho Kué Mine remains safe following strong first year

The Gahcho Kué Mine is benefiting from a strong first year.

Head of external and corporate affairs for De Beers Canada, Tom Ormsby, agrees. He says the Mine is seeing strengths in the production side, as well as general safety.

The Mine is really starting to pick up in production. It’s at the point where they’re making new daily bests almost every day. It’s not just the production though. They’re making sure they’re safe, doing it the right way.

Ormsby says the Mine has seen a huge leap in expected production and revenue in the first year of operation. Through a small presentation, is was noticed that Gahcho Kué is ahead of production schedule while remaining under their budget.

Ormsby says the plan is for the mine to run for at least twelve years.

We’re grateful to have the work that’s being done. We’re hoping the mine can keep it up.
