Develop your futsal skills with National Head Coach, Kyt Selaidopoulos

The Head Coach of the Canadian National Futsal team will be visiting the Northwest Territories next week.

Futsal is a modified version of soccer (football). It’s played with a smaller, bouncier ball on a smaller, indoor court. The sport is viewed as terrific development tool for young soccer players, while also being a competitive sport in it’s own right.

Kyt Selaidopoulos is looking to grow the game in Canada.

Selaidopoulos had a 16-year professional soccer career, most notably with Montreal Impact when they played in the A-League. He will be hosting coach education sessions alongside a two-night men’s futsal talent ID camp, on the evenings of September 25th and September 28th.

It’s important for us to visit as many places as possible, especially in the North, to see what’s going on with futsal,” said Selaidopoulos. “Especially with the NWT hosting the Arctic Winter Games – it’s a plus for everybody.

Selaidopoulos will be in Yellowknife, N’dilo and Hay River to visit several schools next week. The schools he’ll be visiting are:

  • NJ Macpherson School and N’dilo’s K’alemi Dene School on Tuesday, September 26th.
  • Weledeh Catholic School and K’alemi Dene School on Wednesday, September 27th.
  • St Joseph School and JH Sissons School on Thursday, September 28th.
  • William McDonald School and Range Lake School on Friday, September 29th.

There will also be Regional Fustal Camp in Hay River on Friday evening and Saturday.
