City Councillors issue statement following Mayor Heyck’s press conference

Following Yellowknife Mayor Mark Heyck’s Press Conference on Wednesday, five City Councillors have issued a statement.

While not present at the press conference, they stated that they found the Mayor’s reported comments to question the council’s decision on a prior external investigation, referencing an investigation the Mayor commissioned between City Councillor Niels Konge and City Staff in 2015.

The council decided the investigation was done out of the jurisdiction of the policy. They suggested that Mayor Heyck should submit a complaint through the established process.

According to the council, that is now what is being done.

A soon-to-be appointed review committee will be looking into the complaints made by both Mayor Heyck and Councillor Konge.
