YK police search for second wanted person this week

Yellowknife RCMP are looking for a Yellowknife man.

Christopher Wanderingspirit, 40, is wanted for failure to attend a court appearance. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Police believe Wanderingspirit is still within the Northwest Territories, and may even be in Yellowknife.

He is described as First Nations, 5’7”, 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Wanderingspirit is not to be confused with another recent wanted person case.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Christopher Wanderingspirit is asked to contact Yellowknife RCMP at 867-669-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, nwtnutips.com, (click on “submit a web tip”) or text: nwtnutips to 274637.

Feds pledge $4B for housing in Indigenous Northern, remote communities

The federal government says they are committing $4-billion for Indigenous housing in urban, rural and northern communities. The announcement was made in Behchokǫ̀ on Friday. The multi billion dollar plan, dubbed the Urban, Rural and Northern Indigenous Housing Strategy, intends to balance Indigenous-led funding agreements and open, project-based funding for Indigenous housing projects.
