Nearly 2000 vehicles stopped during Operation Gingerbread

The numbers are in for Operation Gingerbread.

Over the month of December, RCMP officers across the Territories held designated check stops. 1960 vehicles were stopped, with 25 impaired driving charges laid, 20 three month suspensions issued, 47 violation tickets issued, 12 twenty-four hour suspensions issued, and 223 warnings were given to drivers.

In comparison to 2016, RCMP stopped close to 500 more vehicles this year – with an additional 3 motorists being charged with Impaired Driving.

Cst. Heather Cosenzo says the goal is to always find ways to Nearly 2000help the Northern communities.

The RCMP members of this Division are committed to making our communities a safer place and by conducting traffic stops, checks, and enforcement patrols of this magnitude, it shows our continued dedication to doing just that.
