4/20 in Yellowknife

April 20th is seen as the Oktoberfest of marijuana.

Many people across the country and around the world are celebrating today by using cannabis in a multitude of ways.

Thousands of people occupied Sunset Square in Vancouver this afternoon. Toronto had celebrations take place in Nathan Phillips Square.

Just like in past years, Yellowknife has a rally set for today.

Northwest Territories RCMP members would like to remind residents to keep safe.

This is an annual event that has always been held in a peaceful manner. Our main goal is that the event is held in a safe and secure manner. We will respond to calls for service at the rally as needed, but respect the public’s right to assemble.

Adding: “RCMP remind residents to stay safe through this event. If anyone has consumed cannabis, please do not drive impaired.
