INF announces closure of Aklavik ice road

The Aklavik ice road is going to close today at 5:00pm.

The Government of the Northwest Territories’ Department of Infrastructure announced the possibility of closure yesterday afternoon.

I-N-F says the reason for today’s closure is due to extreme water flow.

‘Inuvik-Tuk Highway’

The announcement of the closure comes hours after I-N-F closed the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk highway.

The highway has since re-opened after the muddy conditions were corrected.
