Driving on closed winter roads can be a costly mistake, says INF

With many winter road closures popping up around the territory, the Government of the Northwest Territories’ Department of Infrastructure is reminding residents to not drive on those closed roads.

The Dettah Ice Road in Yellowknife recently closed, and the news of the closure had many residents split, saying motorists tend to find their way on the ice anyway. Driving on a closed ice road can lead to fatal consequences and, if caught, could cost you up to $863.

You can learn more of the regulations regarding seasonal highways here.

Drive safe, be smart, and enjoy the incoming summer season.
