The saying ‘April Showers Bring May Flowers’ is a little delayed for the North.
The lack of rain in the month of April, coinciding with the random spurts of snow, has left the NWT a few weeks behind the rest of the country. Luckily, the May-long forecast is projecting quite a bit of precipitation leading up to the summer months.
The daily high will also see a slow, steady climb from 5°C this afternoon, to a projected 18°C by May 31st.

Residents should still expect to see the odd snow pile around Yellowknife for the coming weeks. Ice on the lakes, though not permissible to drive on, should stick around for a few more weeks as well.
