Yellowknife RCMP charge robbery suspect

The Yellowknife RCMP have identified, arrested and charged a suspect from a late night armed robbery this past winter.

On January 3, 2018, a man walked into the downtown Reddi Mart and demanded money from the cashier at gunpoint. The cashier gave him the money and the man fled on foot.

The man has been identified as Andrew Jim Roberts of Thornhill, British Columbia after an investigation by Yellowknife General Investigative Section.

Roberts, 34, was arrested without incident on June 29 and appeared before a Justice of the Peace on Saturday, June 30th.
He is charged with robbery with a firearm, disguise with intent, carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose, pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a restricted firearm without a license.

Roberts’ next court appearance is today at 9:30 am in Justice of the Peace Court.
