Yellowknife, NWT – Behchoko RCMP say they have located and rescued an overdue traveller bound for the hamlet of Gameti , about 20 kilometres North of Behchoko, after his snowmobile became bogged down in slush and mud Wednesday.
The Mounties say they were notified Thursday that the 65-year-old man never made it to his intended destination.
After several hours of searching, RCMP say they spotted him heading towards Behchoko on foot.
The Mounties say this is the third search and rescue incident they have been involved in over the last week.
They would like to remind those traveling out on the land to be aware of deteriorating ice conditions and recommend travelling with proper survival gear.
