Three dead after fatal plane crash near Fort Simpson

Three people are dead after a plane crash last night.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m. last night, Fort Simpson RCMP received a report of an aircraft crash on Little Doctor Lake, about 100 kilometres west of Fort Simpson.

A small Cessna 206 passenger plane operated by Simpson Air went down in the lake with 5 people on board.

Simpson Air is an air charter company that offers tours of Nahanni National Park and operates out of Fort Simpson.

The two surviving passengers were flown to the Fort Simpson Health Centre and treated. They have since been released.

Fort Simpson RCMP officers are currently on scene and assisting Transport Canada with their investigation.

Further releases will be made by Transport Canada.
