Holiday Lights Competition Winners Announced

The winners of the 2018 Yellowknife Holiday Lights Competition have bee announced.

The winners are as follows:

Alternative – 6 Burwash Drive

Commercial Exterior – Adam Dental Clinic

Mobile Home Exterior – 145 Haener Drive

Neighbourhood – 45-49 Hordal Road

Residential Exterior – 5 Wong Court

Winter Wonderland – 5211 54 Street

Office Interior – Department of Infrastructure – DMV

The top five finalists were selected by judges from Northland Utilities between December 10th and 12th. The winners in each category received the highest number of votes on Facebook.

There were a total of 3089 votes received between December 14th and 18th and the winners will receive a gift courtesy of Northland Utilities.

“Bizarre” kayak incident leads to charges after man uses snow shovel to paddle on Marion Lake

A 63-year old man is facing charges after what police called a “bizarre” kayak accident causing a vessel to dangerously capsize in Behchokǫ̀. Experts to hold first territory-wide webinar panel examining state of Elder abuse prevention

Advocates with the NWT Senior Society say ending Elder abuse can begin with awareness and prevention rooted in community knowledges. Community experts from the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Inuvik Justice Committee, the Yellowknife Senior Society and the NWT Seniors Society are planning to hold a panel discussion on the issues at stake for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
