Yellowknife woman charged in false fire alarm
RCMP have charged a Yellowknife woman with pulling a fire alarm at a downtown apartment building Sunday.
RCMP and the City of Yellowknife Fire Division responded to the fire alarm at 6:30 a.m. on January 20th. RCMP say an investigation determined it was a false alarm.
The false alarm is one of many police and firefighters have dealt with over the past months, the RCMP says.
“RCMP wish to inform the public that false fire alarm calls are taken seriously and when improperly used, they occupy valuable resources that could be used elsewhere in the event of an actual emergency.”
A 29-year-old woman has been charged under section 437 of the criminal code – false alarm of fire. She has been released on a promise to appear in court February 26th.
