The damage from a February 5th break-in at Yellowknife’s new vape shop is going to cost around $10,000 store manager Alex Dunham estimates.
On the morning of February 6th, Dunham received a phone call from his colleague about the break-in. He arrived to a giant hole in the shop window, three glass cases smashed, money strewn about on the floor and chemicals spilled.
Dunham estimates $2,500 worth of goods was stolen. Together with damaged goods, he estimates the break-in costs the store close to $10,000.
He says the person or people who broke into his shop knew what they were doing. Before making off with any merchandise, they disabled the security cameras in the shop.
Vapourevolution opened its doors at 483 Range Lake Rd., near the Monkey Tree, on December 17th, 2018. Dunham says the new store had some very unique merchandise stolen, including multicolored bongs hand blown in San Francisco.
“This does damage us quite a bit as there were a bunch of unique, one-off pieces that were brought up specifically for Yellowknife…A bunch of them were commemorative pieces that are not going to be made again.”
If anyone has information about the break-in, Dunham urges them to contact the store via Facebook or by phoning 867-669-8277.
