NACC seeks local hip hop talent

The Northern Arts and Cultural Centre is seeking an emerging NWT hip hop artist to perform February 16th.

The chosen artist will perform a song on the NACC stage in Yellowknife, kicking off a night melding hip hop with physical theatre in the one-man show Brotherhood: The Hip Hopera.

Written and performed by Sebastien Heins, NACC describes the show as “a non-stop, high energy, one-man show using original music and physical theatre to tell the parodied story of two brothers living the hip hop life.” The show moves from the 1970s to the future and doesn’t rely solely on hip hop and rap – funk, gospel and R&B are also featured.

NACC is offering an honorarium to the chosen artist. Anyone interested should submit samples to [email protected].
