Yk farmers market seeking vendors

The weekly farmers market at Somba K’e park in Yellowknife boasts locally-made jams, bannock, salves and jewelry, as well as plenty of other local goods.

Now the market is looking for vendors for its June 4 to September 17 season. The farmers market says new vendors will receive support from the organization as well as more experienced vendors. Those who apply can choose to sell for as little as one week, or up to 16 weeks.

Anyone who lives in the Northwest Territories can become a vendor, providing they use compostable wrapping and dinnerware. Vendors also have to provide all of their own equipment, including tent canopies and tables.

Products have to be made by the vendor and must either be produce or harvest items, processed products, baked goods or confectionary, artisanal items or food concession.

The Yellowknife Farmers Market takes place each Tuesday from 5:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., rain or shine. Applications need to be in by March 17, after which an ‘independent jury’ will review applications.
