Watch: Parts of Pine Point Bridge demolished

Parts of the Pine Point Bridge are being demolished as work continues to have the bridge rehabilitated by this fall.

In a video posted on Twitter, a piece of metal scaffolding is seen toppling off the bridge into the frozen river below.

The bridge is being rehabilitated to be able to handle heavier vehicles, an improvement politicians say will support the delivery of goods and services to the area.

Traffic in the area is being rerouted over the adjacent CN bridge until the expected opening date in October 2019. Seventy five per cent of the $14.7-million project was funded by the Canadian government, 25 per cent by the GNWT.
