Update: NT RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating a suspicious death in the community of Behchoko as a man was found unresponsive and was transported to the Behchoko Health Centre.
He was declared deceased and police began investigating his sudden death. NT RCMP is working with NWT Coroner Service in an investigation into the suspicious death.
NT RCMP were called in to assist Behchoko RCMP at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8th. Supporting units NT RCMP Major Crimes, Forensic Identification Services and Police Dog Service, attended Behchoko to assist with the investigation.
The RCMP has yet to confirm but it is believed that the suspicious death is related to Archie Wedzin as his sister Nora Wedzin said in a Facebook post that her brother passed away in the community on Monday. She also noted that the police were still investigating the cause of his death.
She posted that Archie Wedzin will be remembered “as a loving Father to his 6 daughters and 2 sons. He was also a very loving brother to all.”
The investigation is in the early stages according to the RCMP with no further information at this time.

NT RCMP were called in to assist Behchoko RCMP with an unfolding serious incident that occurred at around 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 8th. Supporting units are currently on their way to Behchoko to assess the situation.
There are no confirmed details of the incident, however, there is no indication of public safety concern at this time.
