YWCA starts toiletry drive for families in shelter, transitional housing

The YWCA is asking Yellowknife residents to donate toiletries for families in transitional housing and family violence shelters.

The non-profit is starting a month-long drive for much-needed toiletries, stating “the toiletry drive provides essentials to families living in transitional housing and family violence shelters. These small creature comforts mean a lot.” The YWCA is also encouraging Yellowknifers to hold competitions in their workplaces, classrooms and neighbourhoods to gather these items.

Toiletries can be dropped off at Sutherlands Drugs, the Yellowknife Multiplex and the Yellowknife Fieldhouse.

The following items are needed:
– soap and body wash
– dental floss
– toothpaste
– toothbrushes
– deodorant
– sanitary pads
– shampoo/conditioner
– comb/brush
– body lotion and face cream
– baby items including diapers
– rash cream, powder
– baby oil
– baby shampoo
– men’s items including razors, soap/body wash and shaving cream
