Yk cops challenge firefighters to plunge into icy waters

Throwing down the gauntlet in the form of a news release, the Yellowknife and G Division RCMP are challenging the city’s firefighters to jump into icy waters at next weekend’s Polar Plunge.

The police say they want to give the firefighters a chance to redeem themselves after losing a game of hockey. “After some discussion, we thought it would only be fair to give the firefighters a chance to redeem themselves a bit after their most recent loss in our annual hockey tournament. I think we all know how busy they are, but I hope they accept,” community policing member Cst. Heather Cosenzo says.

The Yellowknife Fire Division has yet to respond to the challenge.

The May 18th Polar Plunge is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s community and fundraising activities for Special Olympics Northwest Territories. Team registration is still open, email [email protected] or head to the Letr-Nwt Facebook page.
