Overnight fire destroys houseboat, two people safe

An overnight fire burned down and completely destroyed a houseboat on Yellowknife Bay on May 15th. The fire prompted the City of Yellowknife Fire Division to attend the scene as well as the Yellowknife RCMP to dispatch police officers to the site.

Two occupants safely exited the burning structure. One occupant sustained a non-life threatening injury and was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Stanton Territorial Hospital.

The fire broke out just after 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15th, and was out of control when RCMP and firefighters reached the area. The fire cooled off a few hours later and is currently a pile of rubble.

Yellowknife RCMP is assisting the Office of the Fire Marshal with the investigation, which is not deemed suspicious.
