NWT groups receive funding from Urban Partnerships Program

The federal government has announced new funding for seven organizations in the NWT through its Urban Partnerships Program.

The program is designed to enhance the participation of Aboriginal people in their local economies by providing funds for projects that promote work skills and training sessions.

Altogether, seven NWT organizations received over $800,000 in funding. The Tree of Peace Friendship Centre in Yellowknife is one of those organizations.

“We hope this program engages Aboriginal youth and helps them understand some of the essential skills they’ll need to stay in school and gain greater job security,” said Kyle Bird, program manager with the Friendship Centre.
