Inuvik police seize crack cocaine, cash and make one arrest

Inuvik RCMP have seized an ounce of crack cocaine and over $4,000 in cash, as well as arresting a 19-year-old Ontario man in connection with the seizure.
Police started an investigation after receiving reports of drug activity in a home. On July 3rd the RCMP executed a search warrant, seizing an ounce of crack cocaine and $4,360 in cash.
A 19-year-old man from Etobicoke, Ontario has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and proceeds of crime. The man is in custody and is scheduled to appear in Yellowknife court July 8th.
“Illegal drugs are hurting our communities,” the Inuvik RCMP’s Staff Sgt. and Acting Commander Olena Newmen stated. “NT RCMP is putting every effort to protect the most vulnerable members of our society. This seizure helps in reducing the harm caused by illegal drugs in our community.”
