Man charged in relation to February robbery at Yellowknife bank

Police have charged a 34-year-old Yellowknife man in relation to a robbery at the First Nations Bank of Canada.

On February 13th, police say a man entered the downtown Yellowknife bank with a weapon ‘described as a knife’ and asked for money. “The employee provided an undisclosed amount of cash and the man fled on foot.”

The Yellowknife General Investigative Section, with assistance from the NWT Forensic Identification Service, began an investigation resulting in three charges.

The 34-year-old man is charged with robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and being disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence. The man is set to appear in court Thursday, July 11th.
