A wake and celebration of life will be held in Hay River this week for Roberta Sabourin.
Sabourin was the victim of an apparent stabbing in the town’s highrise last Wednesday – the third suspicious death in the apartment complex in the past three years.
Last Friday, police announced that 41-year-old Lori Roberta Hansen had been charged with second-degree murder in her death.
A mother of five, Sabourin was described as a happy, fun loving woman by her sister, Nicole, who created an online memorial fund to assist family members with travel costs for the funeral. The fund quickly surpassed its goal of $5,000.
On Wednesday, family and friends will pay their respects during a wake at the Chief Lamalice Complex.
That will be followed by a celebration of life at the Roman Catholic Church on Thursday at 2pm.
Roberta Sabourin was 42 years old.
