The Northwest Territories Recreation and Parks Association (NWTRPA) is now accepting applications for the 2019 Get Active Program.

Get Active encourages NWT residents to apply for funding to host physical activity events in their community. In 2018/2019, over 6,000 northerners participated in 168 Get Active events.

“We’re very excited to, once again, offer support for active events in the NWT,” said Geoff Ray,
Executive Director of the NWTRPA. “This program enables community leaders to take advantage of
grants that assist them in hosting fun, active community events.”

The 2019 program is provided through a partnership with the Government of the Northwest
Territories. Get Active provides grants to successful organizations of $750 to organize and deliver
three community-oriented physical activity events, $850 to deliver one Swim to Survive® event, or
$1,000 to deliver three Elders events.

It is required that all events are free and open to the public. The deadline to apply for a Get Active grant is October 15, 2019. Event organizers can apply online at by October 15, 2019.
